HENDERSON, N.C. — The Vance County community is grappling with profound grief after a violent incident in the early hours of Sunday morning claimed the life of 26-year-old Jashia Wright. Authorities have charged 24-year-old Naisha Wynn with First-Degree Murder following what Sheriff Curtis Brame described as a “tragic and unfortunate incident.”

Deputies responded to a residence on Vincent Hoyle Road around 2:40 a.m. on April 5, 2026, after receiving a frantic report of a stabbing. First responders discovered a harrowing scene in the front yard, where Wright was found suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts at the scene and rapid transport to Maria Parham Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

The investigation moved with urgent speed. Naisha Wynn was detained at the residence upon law enforcement’s arrival. Following a preliminary investigation and witness interviews, she was formally charged. Wynn remains held at the Vance County Detention Center without bond as the judicial process begins.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this difficult time,” stated Sheriff Brame. “I commend our deputies and investigators for their quick response and dedication in bringing this case forward.”

Jashia Wright is remembered by heartbroken loved ones as a vibrant young woman, her sudden death creating an unimaginable void. “She was a daughter of this county, and her light was taken far too soon,” shared a community member. “We want full justice for her.”

The violence has sent shockwaves through the quiet, residential neighborhood of Vincent Hoyle Road, where neighbors describe a close-knit atmosphere. A growing memorial of flowers and notes now marks the site, serving as a silent vigil for a life cut short.

While a suspect is in custody, the Vance County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek information. Anyone with knowledge of the altercation or unusual activity in the area prior to the 2:40 a.m. call is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 252-738-2200 or Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers at 252-492-1925.

As Henderson stands in collective mourning, the pursuit of justice for Jashia Wright continues—a solemn promise to honor a future stolen by senseless violence.
